Yes, wild currants are edible. They are small, tart berries that can be eaten raw or used in cooking and baking. They are often used to make jams, jellies, and sauces. However, it is important to note that there are different species of wild currants, and some may be more palatable than others. It is always best to properly identify any wild plant before consuming it. **

Currants wilt due to a lack of water reaching the plant's leaves and stems. This can be caused by insufficient watering, excessive heat, or poor soil drainage. When the plant does not receive enough water, it is unable to maintain its turgidity and the leaves and stems begin to droop and wilt. Proper watering and soil management can help prevent currants from wilting. **

Currants are typically pitted by using a small tool called a cherry pitter or a paring knife. The process involves removing the stems from the currants and then carefully inserting the pitter or knife into the top of the fruit to remove the seeds. This can be a delicate process as currants are small and can easily be squished. Once the seeds are removed, the currants can be used in various recipes such as jams, sauces, or baked goods. **
